Paco de Lanheses Overview
|
|
The addition of a kitchenette in the guest wing of this stately home has enabled us to offer accommodation on a self catering basis to those for whom cooking is not the most important part of a holiday.
Your hosts, the Countess and Count of Almada, live in a separate area of the main house.
The word 'Paco' indicates that in the past the King of Portugal has slept in the house although history does not record which room!

Access to the wing is up the imposing granite staircase where there is a separate entrance leading into the dining room.
A door leads into the sitting room which has a television. Another door leads to private veranda, ideal for taking breakfast looking over the vineyards towards the river Lima in the morning sunshine.
There is a passage which has doors leading off to the small kitchen and the three bedrooms.
Two of the bedrooms have twin beds, one has a double bed and one has a single bed. With exception to the single room, all the bedrooms have ensuite bathroom.

From the private veranda, stairs lead down to a lawn with citrus trees and a granite water tank with flowing water which has been converted for use as a swimming pool.
The driveway from the house leads into the centre of the village of Lanheses where there are cafes, bars and restaurants etc.
For those wishing to eat in the house there is the option of asking a local restaurant to deliver the main course (very reasonably priced - allow one portion for two persons).
